Every month or so, lolodidit hosts the Weekend Sock Challenge on IG and her own community site where we all see how far we can get on a pair of socks in two days! It runs from sundown on Friday to sundown on Sunday. In order to take on this challenge, I obtained a single skein of lolodidit Everyday Sock in the OOAK colorway Sugilite, and chose the Vanillia is the New Black sock pattern. I wanted to choose a pattern with lots of stockinette to be able to power through the challenge as quickly as possible!
While I didn't completely finish my socks in one weekend, I did make it past the heel turn and finished them up a couple days later!
The heel increase is interesting on these socks; you work the increases on either side of the center of the back of the leg to create the ribbing pattern, all the while working the entire round rather than turning to make a heel flap. The resultant wedge heel fits pretty well and looks quite lovely. This was a fun, quick pattern and a great way to use up a gorgeous OOAK skein from lolodidit!
