Somewhat predictably, my knitting has slowed down significantly since the birth of my fourth child back at the end of June, but I finally finished this sweater that I cast on a few days before he was born! I absolutely love how this one turned out. The yarn is from Chicken Lady Fiber Arts - a Schitt's Creek inspired colorway called Love that Journey for Me. The pattern is a CustomFit recipe that I've used six times now, because the fit is just perfect, and the stitch pattern was inspired by Scottish designer Kate Davies' (no relation, and no we aren't the same person!) pattern Smookie.
Her sweater is worsted weight, however, so I had to reverse engineer the design so that two stitches were used in the diamond pattern instead of one. I wanted to maintain the large diamond motif and using the pattern as written with more repeats wouldn't have given me the look I wanted.
I used the same stitch pattern on the back as well. I also intentionally set the width of the diamond pattern and seed stitch border so that the waist shaping would fall in the stockinette sides for both the front and the back. I've used this recipe before with an all-over stitch pattern and working those shaping decreases and increases in pattern does make things a bit difficult!
I am really happy with the final product, and I can't wait for the temps to drop (soon, fingers crossed!!) so that I can start wearing my sweaters again!
